STANDARD CONTROLS AWARDED 279 SWITCH BOARD STRUCTURES

Schneider Electric Selects Standard Controls for Dupont Fabros Chicago One Phase II Site

Dallas, Texas – March 03, 2011 –Switchboard manufacturer Schneider Electric awarded Standard Controls, Inc. a contract for the product engineering, wiring, UPS interface, and functional testing of 279 base OEM UL 891 structures for the DuPont Fabros CH1 Phase I data center located in Elk Grove, Illinois.  The first set of fully integrated and tested switchboards is scheduled to be on site in less than 16 weeks.

According to Owner’s Representative Joe Guentert of Power Distribution Systems, Standard Controls is selected for the DuPont projects based on the company’s capability to provide huge volumes of highly complex and identical lineups with speed and accuracy and nearly perfectly wired.  Mr. Guentert further cited that Standard Controls’ design and flawless execution provide the ability to start up and commission systems in record time.  Standard Controls also completed 279 structures for CH1 Phase I in 2008.

The 485,000 square foot Chicago One data center is identified as the 8th largest in the world and when completed will provide 72.4 MW of critical power, with 36.2 MW dedicated to Critical Load, supported by 64 Piller rotary power systems with 1,300 kW of critical output each, and 64 diesel-powered engine generators with 2,250 kW capacity each, providing N+2 redundancy for each phase.

The SC1 data center was Standard Controls’ eleventh project since 2005 for Dupont Fabros.  Standard Controls has integrated over 2,400 sections of switchgear / switchboards for DFT sites in Illinois, California, Virginia, and New Jersey, working with various OEM manufacturers including IEM, Siemens, and Square D.
